The Trials of PvP

There are three tiers of level fifty (50) purple PvP (Player vs Player) gear and the order is as follows: -

Centurion --> Champion --> Battle-Master
Centurion being the lowest quality of the three (3).

The reason for obtaining the PvP gear is a simple one: Expertise. This PvP only stat affects how much damage you deal, receive or heal during a PvP engagement. Once you begin engaging in PvP combat you will be awarded a certain amount of commendations, valour, experience and credits (You will also obtain Legacy experience).

Commendations

On your faction’s fleet, in the “Combat Training” area there are the 18 PvP vendors. While the eighteen (18) PvP vendors on the fleet can be intimidating, only six (6) of them pertain to you. Four (4) of them are class-specific and can be found huddled close together in one of the two (2) alcoves within the combat training area. Within the class-specific ‘section’ you can find one (1) low level PvP armour vendor, and all three (3) of the level fifty (50) purple tier sets.

Next to the wall that separates the both these alcoves, and where you can pick up daily PvP quests are where you can find two (2) other PvP vendors that offer low level main hand weapons and item mods.

You can only hold a maximum of one-thousand (1000) Warzone commendations and any more you earn that would exceed the cap are simply wasted. The fastest way to dump your Warzone Commendations is to convert them to Mercenary Commendations. Why? Mercenary Commendations are used in conjunction with Warzone Commendations to buy Champion Gear Bags.

Mercenary Commendations are bought from the vendor with Warzone Commendations. The conversion rate is ten (10) Mercenary Commendations for thirty (30) Warzone Commendations. So dump your Warzone Commendations into Mercenary Commendations to make sure you don’t go above the one-thousand (1000) commendation limit. You are going to need a lot of them.

Now to the more confusing aspects of this PvP gear system. Champion Gear Bags are bought from the same vendor for two-hundred (200) Mercenary Commendations and two-hundred (200) Warzone Commendations (800 Warzone Commendations in total). To open these bags you will need to be level 50.

Champion Gear Bags have a random chance to have an “Unassembled Champion" item. Think of Unassembled Champion items as tokens that you trade into vendors, for your specific class. Champion Gear Bags do not always contain an “Unassembled Champion” item but will always contain Centurion Commendations and a handful of credits. You can also obtain these bags through completing the PvP daily and weekly quests.

To get your hands on the Battle-Master gear you need to be level fifty (50) and have valour rank sixty (60) if you wish to even open the Battle-Master Gear Bags , and they can only be obtained through selecting them as your reward for turning in the PvP quests.
